OUR HISTORY

The Canadian credit union and caisse populaire prudential regulators historically worked together on common initiatives on an ad-hoc basis with administrative and logistical support from Credit Union Central Canada (CUCC). While this arrangement had been useful, it was agreed that a more permanent structure, housed inside the office of one of the Members, would be the most effective method to ensure continued collaboration among jurisdictions towards the achievement of shared goals. Agreement was reached in spring 2012 to create a secretariat, housed in the Financial Institutions Commission of British Columbia (now the BC Financial Services Authority), to support the work of CUPSA.
